The International Conference on Poverty and Sustainable Development (ICPSD) will be held on 08th and 09th December 2016 for the third consecutive year. With the success in hand acquired through two remarkable history making conferences TIIKM is ready for the third one under the theme of “Strategies for meeting SDGs”. Sustainable Development Goals have been established with the intention of creating a better future which reaches out of its conventional boundaries.

“The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), officially known as ‘Transforming our world’: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development is a set of seventeen aspirational “Global Goals” with 169 targets between them.”

The particular conference will be chaired by Prof. Sarath Kotagama, Professor of Environmental Science, Department of Zoology, University of Colombo, Sri Lanka. Further, conference will be featured with the contribution of Prof. Thomas Pogge, Leitner Professor of Philosophy and International Affairs Yale University, USA-“The Sustainable Development Goals — Some Critical Reflections”, Mr. Uchita de Zoysa, Sustainable Development Advisor – Ministry of Sustainable Development and Wildlife, Chairman – Global Sustainability Solutions (GLOSS), Executive Director – Centre for Environment & Development (CED), Facilitator – Peoples Sustainability Treaties and Dr. Edoardo Monaco, Assistant Professor and Director, Government and International Relations Program, Hong Kong Baptist University & Beijing Normal University United International College (UIC), China.

Ministry of Social Empowerment and Welfare, Sri Lanka acts as the Supporting Ministry for this particular conference while Nepal Administrative Staff College – Nepal becomes the Hosting Partner. Yale Global Justice Program and Center for Sustainability-University of Sri Jayewardenepura give their support as the Academic Partners.

This will be a certainly valuable occurrence for all the stake holders including academics, practitioners, industry experts, policy makers and researchers, etc. The opportunity that they get for networking, knowledge sharing and broadening the views on the subject will be beneficial to clear up the blanked cornerstones of the particular subject.

Significantly, Hon. S.B. Dissanayake, Minister of Social Empowerment & Welfare, Sri Lanka will grace the event as the chief guest and made out some valuable statements on SDGs and brought out the Sri Lankan aspect of it.

Around 75 participants representing Indonesia, Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka, Japan, Nigeria, Ireland, South Korea, Pakistan, Malaysia, Canada, Australia, Denmark, Thailand, Portugal and UAE will present their new findings, contemporary issues and assumed solutions for them, theoretical aspects and the pragmatic applications of the subject.
